Condolence Meeting
AMU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION, MUMBAI CONDOLES THE DEATH OF JANAB IMTIYAZ AHMED ANSARI SB. AND JANAB IFTIKHAR AHMED SB.
Mumbai: The AMU Alumni Association in Mumbai held a Quran Khwani, dua and condolence meet for two esteemed members: Late Janab Imtiaz Ahmed Ansari SB.(Ex Deputy Custom Commissioner, Mumbai & Ex General Secretary of AMU Alumni Association, Mumbai) and Late Janab Iftekhar Ahmed Sb. (Director Aziz Tours Private Limited & Vice President AMU Alumni Association, Mumbai).
Condolence Meet Held at Rassaz International School in Mira Road on 25th February (Sunday), 2018, the meet saw several Aligs share their thoughts about the departed souls, especially Imtiaz Ahmed who was also a former general secretary of the Association. Before the Aligs recalled the contributions the two members had made to the Alig community in Mumbai, some madrassa students recited the verses from the Quran and prayed for the departed souls.
In his address the Association’s general secretary Rais Ahmed paid rich tributes to the two seniors colleagues who arer not with us now. “I knew Imtiaz bhai since the days Marhoom Harun Rashid and he (Imtiaz Ahmed) ran it. He was very concerned about AMU and cared for the alumni community. He will be missed for long,” said Rais Ahmed.
Mohmmad Nahid Ansari recalled how Imtiaz Ahmed Sb would speak to him on end on topics ranging from alumni affairs to personal. “He would speak and speak. The listener might have become bored but Imtiaz bhai would not get tired. His concern was genuine,” said Ansari.
Mohammed Wajihuddin remembered how Imtiaz Ahmed loved AMU and its founder Sir Syed whom Imtiaz bhai would address as “Baba”. “I have rarely seen an Alig so emtionally attached to Sir Syed as Imtiaz bhai was. He would weep and cry remembering the contributions Sir Syed made to the educational and scientific development of Indian Muslims. We have lost a true, selfless Aligarian,” said Wajihuddin.
Ashraf Karim said Imtiaz Ahmed was devoted the the welfare of AMU alumni community and would do whatever he could to make a new comer comfortable in the city.
Suroor Ansari said Imtiaz Ahmed and he had opened an office in Mumbra to reach out to the needy Aligs. He also recalled that Imtiaz Ahmed wanted to createback hostel for Aligs in the city.
Zohair Rizvi recalled how Imtiaz Ahmed strove to bring the different factions of alumni on one platform just before the last Sir Syed Day. Though his mobility was restricted due to poor health, Imtiaz bhai didn’t flinch from responsibilities and ensued that Sir Syed Day was held.
Imtiaz bhai’s younger brother Riyaz Ahmed Ansari said that Imtiaz bhai initially studied at as madrassa but worked hard to get educated at AMU. He qualified for the customs service and cared for near and dear ones and the larger AMU community.
Dr Rashid too spoke on the occasion.
